Day 8 - Sunday

There is no joy in vacationing when one worries about what's happening at home. So I headed toward home instead of toward Chattanooga, my original destination for the next two days. I did take some brief side-trips off I-65, but never ventured more than 5 miles off the interstate.

About 4 pm I gave up any hope of continuing with the ruse that I was still vacationing, and dead-headed for home, stopping at Matt & Sarah's for ten minutes to drop of a t-shirt for Thomas, a silver necklace for Sarah, and some gourmet jellied candy for Matt.

Upon arriving home I found that the neurologist believed that Mother had not had a mini-stroke, but that a spike in her blood pressure (which was 240/130 at the emergency room) caused the "stroke-like symptoms" and the seizure.

So... It seems that Mother Dearest had not been taking her blood pressure medicine, bless her heart. Eric (baby brother) is going to be having a long chat with her about someone else being in charge of her medications and, if she doesn't like it, that there's a lovely nursing home where the staff will make sure she's taking the correct dosing. Wow. Go Bro. Glad it's not me delivering THAT news!
